Resistance to the National Animal Identification System (NAIS) is growing among livestock producer groups.
At an impromptu meeting here last weekend, stockmen representing a broad cross-section of species took a generally dim view of the national animal identification program.
As it now stands, they all seemed to agree, USDA’s proposed program could be compared to a finely crafted blueprint for a concrete blimp. It may look great on paper, but out in the real world, no amount of hot air will ever get it off the ground. -Livestock Weekly

Walter,
I couldn’t get into that site with out a 30.00 fee.
Can you print the whole thing?
[I wish I could. I can’t because that would be a copyright violation. Try emailing the editors and tell them you would like to read that one article and perhaps they’ll email it to you. You could even ask if I can republish it here with a link back to them. They might say yes. -WJ]

It isnt us big producers who are pushing this it is the big corporate feeders further up the food chain who want it as a way of controlling our stock and thus prices. I own over 10000 head which makes me by yor definition one of the bigger producers but I sure as hell dont want this government garbage. I already keep track of my stock. I dont want to send that data to Uncle or some corp controlled by Cargil or the other big producers. That is sensitive biziness data.

Mr. Hendrix, thank you for your comments, Tell us how you are fighting this? What are the other producers saying? what are your neighbors saying? I assume 10,000 head is cattle? To whom are you selling your 10,000 head to? If its to the the bigger producer is their not a way that you and the others in your category set up your own butchering facility and sell privately?
Again thanks for your comments

it has never been the been the cattle producer that pushed for animal i.d.. there is a cattle group out there that says they they are anti i.d. but are probably not,you can tell by looking at the corporations that give them large sums of money. walter you have them on your nice list ,im not sure they need to be there. before you join a group check out who might be donating large sums of money to them. dont get me wrong,we must belong to a group to get things done ,just be careful what group you join.
